Abstract
The objective of this research was to determine the effect of storage and period of acacia (Acacia mangium L.) particle board using urea formaldehyde with urea formaldehyde adhesive on physical properties and rate of change. The research was conducted at Laboratory of Agricultural Machine and Machine Workshop, and Laboratory of Energy and Electrification, Agricultural Technology Department, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from Desember 2017 until March 2018. This research used Factorial Random Block Design which consists of two treatment factors, each with two treatment levels and five treatment levels. Each combination is done three times. Factor A (storage site) consisted of indoor and outdoor, and factor B (storage time) included 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 week(s). The parameters observed included physical properties of particle board (water content, density, and volume of swelling). The results showed that factor A (storage site), factor B (storage duration) and the interaction between factor A and B significantly affected on all parameter observed. The rate of changes of particle board during storage indoor were 0,928%, 0.005 g/cm3 and 0.848% for water content, density and volume of swelling, respectively. The rate of changes of particle board during storage outdoor were 1.675%, 0.024 g/cm3 and 1.085% for water content, density and volume of swelling, respectively.
