Abstract

The environment is currently facing several global issues such as global warming, carbon emissions, pollution, resource depletion, and energy problems. Therefore, the concept of sustainable development needs to be applied to minimize the negative impact of development on the environment and society. In Indonesia, many homes have exceeded their capacity, so green home development is being offered to the public. Green home development in Indonesia is increasing due to the growing awareness of the importance of the environment and sustainable living. As part of Generation Z, alumni and students of the Civil Engineering Department of Sriwijaya University are also expected to actively participate in addressing global issues by implementing green homes. This research uses a quantitative method by distributing online questionnaires containing questions about perceptions of green homes, and answers are given using a Likert scale ranging from 1 to 5. The collected data was tested using SPSS software and processed using Microsoft Excel software. Data testing includes validity and reliability testing. Data processing includes calculating the frequency and percentage of responses to each question item. The respondents of this study are 276 students and alumni of the Civil Engineering Department of Sriwijaya University who are categorized as Generation Z. The research questionnaire is divided into three parts: understanding of green home features, motivation to apply green homes, and barriers to applying green homes. From the research conducted, it was found that the majority of respondents understood the features of green homes, the majority of respondents agreed on the motivation to apply green homes, and the majority of respondents disagreed on the barriers to applying green homes.
