Abstract

Schools are the entrance to healthy behavior change in students, especially in terms of sanitation. However, in some schools, such as SDN 14 Tungkal Ilir, which is where students in Tungkal Ilir District study, it is known that there is still a lack in terms of school sanitation, so this study aims to analyze the sanitation of the elementary school environment at SDN 14 Tungkal Ilir. This research uses a qualitative method with in-depth interview techniques, observation and document review with 21 research informants, namely the principal key informants, the supporting informants are 2 janitors, 6 teachers and 12 students. The results of the study showed that only the physical quality variable of clean water met the requirements in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 1429 of 2006 concerning School Environmental Health Requirements, while trash cans, sewerage facilities, toilet/latrine facilities, and handwashing facilities did not meet the requirements. Therefore, the sanitary condition of the SDN 14 Tungkal Ilir Elementary School Environment in Bumi Serdang Village, Tungkal Ilir District, Banyuasin Regency in general has not met the school environmental health requirements. The suggestions in this study are that schools implement 3R culture in students, equip sanitation facilities such as separating types of garbage cans into organic and organic, make administrative regulations for well rooms, make simple spaps or plant certain plants to filter wastewater, provide hand soap, and repair damaged bathroom facilities.
