Abstract

In chronic illnesses, high levels of self-efficacy influence the process of self-care and self-management for patients. Self-efficacy in breast cancer patients is regarding to the individuals abilities in managing symptoms and issues that arise during treatment. Self-efficacy in breast cancer patients can be enhanced through health education using the Roda Putar Efikasi Diri (ROPEDI) and educational videos that will influence self-efficacy through verbal persuasion by providing information about self-efficacy to breast cancer patients. This study aims to compare health education through the Roda Putar Efikasi Diri (ROPEDI) and educational videos on improving self-efficacy in breast cancer patients. The study used methods Quasi-Experimental Design with Pretest-Posttest With a Control Group. The research sample consists of 36 respondents selected using purposive sampling technique, divided into 3 groups with 12 respondents in each group. Data were collected using a self-efficacy questionnaire. The results of statistical analysis using One-Way Anova yielded a p-value of 0.02 (sig<0.05), indicating a significant change in self-efficacy values in all three groups. Further post hoc analysis showed a change in the mean values for the Roda Putar Efikasi Diri (ROPEDI) group (26.08), the educational video group (25.67), and the control group (20.17). This means that health education through ROPEDI and educational videos has an impact on improving self-efficacy in breast cancer patients because of verbal persuasion through health education with ROPEDI media and educational videos, also includes cognitive processes and motivation through the providing information to both groups. The use of the Roda Putar Efikasi Diri (ROPEDI) and educational videos can be utilized as health education media to enhance self-efficacy in breast cancer patients.
