Abstract

PT. Berau Coal is one of the mining companies in Indonesia, which is engaged in coal mining. This research was conducted in pit q. block prapatan at the site of binungan mine operation 1. The condition of the bulldozer ripper tool has experienced many breakdowns so the PA plan of the D10T-2 bulldozer is not on target which makes the production of overburden material ripping not achieved. As in September, the overburden stripping target had to be completed at 321,765 bcm/month but was only achieved at 229,121 bcm/month. It is necessary to test the ucs value of the material in the field to find out whether the material in pit q is still capable of being piped by the D10T-2 unit. Then the effort made to cover the PA bulldozer that is not according to plan is to increase the space to 1.8 meters used by the bulldozer ripper so that it can increase the productivity of the bulldozer ripper to increase the production value. This research was conducted by analyzing and processing data from laboratory test results and taking actual data in the field. The laboratory test carried out is to determine the ucs value of the material in pit q. Actual data collection in the field is in the form of data on the depth of penetration, the space used, the distance of the area being ripped, and the cycle time of the D10T-2 bulldozer before and after the improvement of the space increase, then the collection of digging time and cycle time data of the cat 395 excavators to evaluate the effect of increasing ripper space before and after improvement. The material on pit q is sandstone material. From the results of laboratory tests, it was found that the ucs value of sandstone material was 6.26 Mpa with a seismic wave velocity value of 1751.13 m/s. Based on the reference sandstone material in pit q includes hard material but is still capable of being piped by the D10T-2 unit. With hard sandstone material, an appropriate ripping method is needed so that the material can be unpacked, making it easier for excavators to dig and load. Therefore, the method used is the cross-ripping method which uses the method of double cross-ripping. After improvement, the production value of the bulldozer ripper increased by 34,480 bcm/month so that it was able to meet the ripping material production target. Then analyzed the effect of increasing space on the excavator, based on the results of processing excavator productivity data, the increase in space makes the fragmentation of rocks even greater so that the digging time of the excavator increases, thus making the productivity of the excavator decrease, but this still meets the overburden production target.
