Abstract

Intellectual capital is a part of intangible assets that can affect a firm value. This study aims to determine the effect of intellectual capital on the value of companies in go public companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange in period 2012-2016. This research examine the relation of three major components of firm’s resources which is Value Added Human Capital (VAHU), Value Added Capital Employed (VACA), and Structural Capital Value Added (STVA) toward the firm value. The firm value is proxied using Tobin’s Q. Research sample comprised all firms listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange in the go public companies for the period 2012-2016. The sampling method used is purposive sampling and obtained 101 samples of companies. This study used multiple linear regression as an analysis technique by using program SPSS 24.0. The Result showed VAHU has positive and significant effect on Tobin’s Q, while VACA and STVA does not have effect on Tobin’s Q. The implication of this research is the company can consider intellectual capital management and for the investors to be useful as a consideration in investment decision making. Due the limited of this research, it is recommended to extend the period of research, grouping the sectors into Low-IC and High-IC and use more of other independent variables that can affect the firm value.
