Abstract

PT. Pusri is such as the first fertilizer company in Indonesia and PT. Pusri has the biggest asset and also spread around Indonesia. PT. Pusri developing their performance by building a new factory that called as pabrik pusri II-B. In this factory there is Steam Turbine Generator (STG) and Boiler project. One of the existing construction in this project is Cooling Tower. Cooling tower has a fiinction for decreasing water flow temperature that come ffom boiler. The first step that we will do when we build cooling tower is making a foundation then continued by making the upper structure. Foundation is one of the important thing because it has to forwarding the load of its structure above to the subsoil below. The purpose of this study is determining the load of every column on cooling tower structure, planning altemative foundation of cooling tower and calculate safety controPs foundation. The foundation used is spun pile with rectangular shape in size 30 cm x 30 cm x 24 m. Carrying capacity method that used for planning spun pile foundation in this study is carrying capacity method with static analytical formula and the result of NSPT test. Based on the result of SAP2000’s calculation obtained Ptotal = 69745,51 kN. The smallest carrying capacity of the permission (Qall) is 613,525 kN using Qs with a = 1654,604 kN and Qb = 191,684 kN and also the biggest Qall is come from the result of NSPT test = 1040,209 kN. The number of piles that used is 132 piles with the distance between pile = 2,5 m. The efficiency of the pile (Eg) is 0.864 and the carrying capacity of the pile group (Qg) = 200194.9 kN. From the calculation result, the foundation altemative is declared safe to support the construction of cooling tower.
