Abstract

The use of single-use plastic bags is currently still high in society. This plastic waste is the most difficult waste to decompose by itself in nature and has a negative impact on the environment and the people around it. This study aims to determine the effect of predisposing factors, enabling factors and reinforcing factors on environmental health students on plastic bag diet behavior conducted by Sriwijaya University students. This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional study design. The population in this study are active students studying at Sriwijaya University. The sample size taken was 110 students studying at Sriwijaya University. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square test which showed that awareness (p-value <0.0001), health promotion (p-value = 0.017), promotion frequency (p value = 0.029) and behavior of people around (p-value <0.0001) had an influence on students' plastic bag diet behavior. Meanwhile, for knowledge (p-value = 0.159), gender (p-value = 0.413), promotional media exposure (p-value = 0.306), and the behavior of students' parents (p-value = 0.164) did not have a significant effect on students' plastic bag diet behavior. The conclusion of this study is that the behavior of the plastic bag diet is influenced by the student's own awareness, health promotion and the frequency of promotions received by students as well the behavior of the plastic bag diet carried out by the people around them.
