Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of several doses and application times of 2,4 - D Dimethyl Amine herbicide to control weeds in peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) plantations. This research was carried out in the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir from October 2022 to January 2023. The method used in this study was a factorial randomized block design consisted of 2 factors. The first factor was herbicide doses, they were D1 : 1 l ha-1, D2 : 1,5 l ha-1, and D3 : 2 l ha-1 the second factor was herbicide application times, consisted of W1 : 21 days after planting, W2 : 28 days after planting, and W3 : 35 days after planting, all of treatments were repeated 3 times. The results showed that the herbicide 2,4 - D Dimethyl Amine treatment at a dose of 2 l ha-1 and applied 21 days after planting was the best treatment. The dominant weed before tillage was Borreria alata with an SDR value of 34.68%, at 21 days after application the dominant weed was Eleusine indica with SDR of 22,07%, at 28 days after application the dominant weed was Borreria alata with SDR of 26,02%, at 35 days after application the dominant weed was Eleusine indica with SDR of 22,37%, and at 8 weeks after application the dominant weed was Eleusine indica with SDR of 66,44%.
