Abstract
The optimal production of broiler chicken can be achieved if the feed comsumption according to the consumption needs of broiler chickens. In addition, the diets given also should have a good quality. The good of diet is a diet that is able to provide nutritional needs of broiler chicken appropriately. The quality of the diets can be seen from digestibility value, among others : digestibilities of crude protein, crude fiber other nutrients. The digestibility of crude protein and crude fiber can be optimized by adding of propionic acid in the diets. The aim of this study was to find out the effect of addition propionic acid in the diets to digestibility of crude protein and crude fiber in broilers chicken. This research was conducted from July to August 2017 in experimental farm belonged to PT. Satwa Utama Integrasi in palembang, sourt sumatra. The design used in this research was a completely random desigh with three treatments among other : P1= diets without addition of propionic acid, P2 = diets addition 0,5% of propionic acid, P2 = addition 0,75% of propionic acid. The parameters observed were feed consumption, crude protein and crude fiber digestibility. The research showed that the addition of 0,5% and 0,75% propionic acid in the diets decreased feed consumption, increased digestibility of crude protein and crude fiber in broiler chickens. It is cloncluded that the treatment with addition 0,75% of propionic acid was the best level to increase crude protein and crude fiber digestibility.
