Abstract

PT Semen Padang (persero) Tbk is one of the cement producers in Indonesia and is part of the Semen Indonesia Group (SIG). In the unloading of limestone at PT Semen Padang (Persero) Tbk, drilling and blasting activities are carried out, the company has a standard of supervision of the performance of the PT Dahana (Persero) blasting service, namely the size of the blasted rock which is ≤80 cm in size is 80% and ≥80 cm in size is 20%. To achieve the production target of 9,362,746 tons/year 2022, the company drills blast holes carried out by PT Fajar Rawayan Utama on average 50 holes/day. Based on the average fragmentation data of 20 blasts in December 2022, limestone boulders produced from blasting activities at PNBP have not met the standard, which is 24.58% using Split Desktop 2.0 calculation and Kuz-Ram method analysis prediction calculation of 1.76%. Blasting geometry changes need to be made to evaluate blasting activities at the PNBP site, the evaluation is based on the formula proposed by C. J Konya (1991), so changes were made to the burden distance from 3.9 m to 3.6 m based on the specific gravity of the rock; tier height from 8.9 m to 12 m based on the relationship between variations in blast hole diameter and tier height; spacing from 4.3 m to 4.6 m; stemming from 4 m to 3.6 m; hole depth from 10 m to 13 m; addition of explosives from 88.52 kg to 142.88 kg and powder factor value from 0.22 kg/ton to 0.27 kg/ton. Based on the calculation results of the modified geometry design, rock fragmentation using the Kuz-Ram method analysis prediction obtained rock size ≥80 cm by 0.90%. Based on the evaluation results, it is proposed to apply the recommended blasting geometry design because it can increase the blasting volume for each blast hole and can reduce the number of boulders produced by considering the increase in the use of explosives.
