Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of locus of control on consumptive behavior of Economics Education students at FKIP Sriwijaya University Academic Year 2019-2021. This research uses a quantitative approach with a causal associative research type. This study uses two data collection techniques, namely questionnaires and documentation. Instrument validity uses the product moment correlation formula and the reliability test uses the Cronbach alpha formula. This study used a sample with proportional random sampling technique, the sample in this study were Economics Education students at FKIP Sriwijaya University in the 2019-2021 academic year total of 68 students. The data analysis technique was carried out using inferential statistics. The results showed that there was a positive influence (unidirectional) locus of control on the consumptive behavior of Economic Education students at FKIP Sriwijaya University in the 2019-2021 academic year by 27.96%. This means that if the locus of control possessed by students is better, the better the financial management and control of consumptive behavior and vice versa. The results of the calculation of the partial hypothesis test (t-test) obtained the tcount is greater than the ttable (5.047 ≥ 1.668) this means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The results of the simple regression analysis obtained the regression equation is Ŷ = 23.685 + 0.7028X, the equation can be interpreted that without the influence of locus of control, the consumptive behavior is the same as the opposite
