Abstract

A school environment with poor sanitation has the potential to become a source of transmission of various diseases that can interfere with the health of students. Poor sanitation can have a negative effect on the health level of school students who have high interaction. One indicator of school sanitation is WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene). The purpose of this study was to analyze the application of WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Management at SMA Negeri 6 Palembang in the Context of the Prevention of Infectious Diseases. This study uses a qualitative research design through observational analytic techniques with observation methods, in-depth interviews and FGD discussions with 16 informants from the results of purposive sampling. The results showed that the 6 indicators of WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) SMA Negeri 6 still did not fulfill the aspect of clean water which did not meet the availability and there were indications of Total Coliform of 200 CFU/100 ml and Escherichia Coli of 48 CFU/100 ml, Toilets that did not meet the aspect of cleanliness, SPAL with channels not yet closed, 10 out of 35 CTPS facilities that still do not have soap and health communication aspects especially about infectious diseases that are still not optimal. The conclusion from the researchers in this study is that the environmental sanitation facilities and the implementation of Health Communication at SMA Negeri 6 Palembang are not completely in good condition and have not been implemented optimally. Suggestions from researchers for SMA Negeri 6 to add, improve, and strengthen health communication, especially regarding infectious diseases.
