Abstract

The amount of force and cutting power is information that is very necessary in machine tool planning, because this is the starting point for every planning calculation and analysis for every type of machine tool. This study aims to analyze the optimization of the influence of parameters on machining power (N) in the face milling process by administering a cutting fluid using coconut oil mixed with nanoparticles using the Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) technique and analyze the required machining power during the machining process in order to determine the amount of power consumption required for a machining process. The output parameter is machining power. The milling machining parameters that are varied are cutting speed with a variation value of (16.33, 31.09 and 40.82) m/min, feeding motion with a variation value of (0.031, 0.051, and 0.066) mm/tooth, and axial feeding depth with a variation value of (0.5, 0.75, and 1.25) mm. The L9(33 ) orthogonal matrix of Taguchi's experimental design, signal-to-noise ratio, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to analyze the impact of these machining parameters. The analysis performed shows the optimal combination of machining parameters to produce the best surface roughness is low cutting speed (16,33 m/min), low feeding motion (0,051 mm/tooth), and small depth of cut (0,75 mm).
