Abstract
Maize stover was a by product of corn crop farming that can be used as silage. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of the digestion of corn straw silage with the addition of rice bran in vitro. This research was conducted from October to November 2017 in Field Laboratory and Animal Feed Nutrition Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry Program, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. This study used in vitro experiment with 2 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment consisted of P1 as a control (silage straw of maize) and P2 (silage of corn straw with the addition of rice bran 5%). Observed parameters were pH, dry matter digestibility (KBK), T-VFA (Total Volatile Fatty Acid) and gas production. The results showed that each treatment between P1 and P2 was not significantly different (P>0.05) to the observed variables (pH, KBK, T-VFA and gas production). The conclusions of this study indicate that the addition of rice bran has not been able to affect pH, KBK, total VFA and gas production.
