Abstract

Cooking oil is one of the nine components of the community's staple food needs, this causes a tendency for the demand for cooking oil to always be there. Consumer household demand for packaged cooking oil is influenced by various factors and attributes that are inherent and are taken into consideration by consumers before deciding to buy packaged cooking oil. The aims of this study were (1) to describe the characteristics of consumers who consumed packaged cooking oil in households in Tanjung Pering Village, Indralaya Utara district, (2) to analyze the types of attributes of packaged cooking oil considered by consumers of packaged cooking oil in households in Tanjung Pering Village, sub-district North Indralaya, (3) Analyzing the factors that influence consumer demand for packaged cooking oil in households in Tanjung Pering Village, North Indralaya sub-district. This research was conducted in May 2023 covering 30 household consumers of packaged cooking oil. The method used in this research is a survey with non probability sampling technique. The research results obtained are: (1) The characteristics of packaged cooking oil household consumers consist of housewives who have an average age of 32 years, with the last education level of senior high school and have a family of 5 people with an average family income of Rp. 4,862,233/month, (2) The attributes of packaged cooking oil that are most considered by household consumers in Tanjung Pering Village in purchasing cooking oil sequentially are the attributes level of clarity, color, nutritional content, price, package size, brand and type of packaging, (3) Factors that have a significant influence on consumer demand for packaged cooking oil, namely the price of packaged cooking oil, the number of family members, and packaging size attributes while the price of bulk cooking oil, age, income, education, type of packaging does not have a significant effect on the demand for packaged cooking oil.
