Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan numerasi siswa kelas VII pada pembelajaran bentuk aljabar menggunakan pendekatan PMRI dengan konteks makanan khas kota Palembang di SMP Negeri 59 Palembang. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII.1 SMP Negeri 59 Palembang. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, tes dan wawancara siswa. Tes tertulis terdiri dari dua soal untuk mengukur kemampuan numerasi siswa. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dan pembahasan indikator kemampuan numerasi terdapat 88,23% siswa mampu menggunakan berbagai macam angka dan simbol yang terkait dengan matematika dalam berbagai macam konteks kehidupan sehari-hari, 80,88% siswa mampu menganalisis informasi yang ditampilkan dalam berbagai bentuk (grafik, tabel, bagan dan sebagainya), dan 82,35% siswa mampu menafsirkan hasil analisis tersebut untuk memprediksi dan mengambil keputusan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII.1 SMP Negeri 59 Palembang memiliki kemampuan numerasi yang cukup baik dalam menyelesaikan soal tes menggunakan pendekatan PMRI dengan makanan khas kota Palembang pada materi bentuk aljabar.
