Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of sandpaper letter media on the ability to recognize letter shapes in group A children of PAUD Mutiara Mandiri, Tanjung Kurung Village, Runjung Agung District, South OKU Regency. This type of research uses a quantitative approach pre experiment method or pseudo experiment with One Shoot Case Study design. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Total sampling is a sampling technique when all members of the population are used as samples. The sample amounted to 27 children, consisting of 7 girls and 20 boys. This research was conducted 3 times a meeting. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation sheets and action tests. Observations were structured using the checklist method. The normality test was carried out using the Chi Kuadrat formula as a request test before the t-test was carried out, after summing up and getting the final value the average calculation result was 74.81 with a standard deviation of 17, 24 and obtained x2 count 10.52 while x2 table 38.9. Based on the results of the calculation of the t test obtained t_hitung = 3.55 ≥ t_ (table) = 1.71 with α = 0.05 and dk = 26. From these results, there is an effect of sandpaper letter media on the ability to recognize letter shapes of children in group A PAUD Mutiara Mandiri, Tanjung Kurung Village. Educators and schools can use sandpaper letter media to help introduce letter shapes to children in order to attract children's interest in learning, especially learning letter shape recognition.
