Abstract
Solar charge controller has an important function in solar power plant; it regulates the voltage and current that flows in and out of the battery, so the battery will not overcharge and break easily. Currently, there are two types of solar charge controller, PWM and MPPT. In this research, the PWM type solar charge controller is used on the solar power plant in Masjid Al-Aqobah, Pulau Semambu, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir. The purpose of this research is to determine the efficiency of the implementation of the PWM controller used in the solar power plant in Masjid Al-Aqobah. This research was done by measuring the power that flows in and out of the solar panels and PWM controller, before the efficiency of solar panels and PWM controller was compared. As the result shows the output voltage and current of solar charge controller PWM is lower than the output voltage and current of solar panels, the efficiency of PWM controller is lower than the efficiency of solar panels. Therefore, the efficiency of PWM controller is determined to not be optimal, as the research was carried out when the battery was almost full.
