Abstract

In an effort to improve pump performance, impeller modifications are made. One of the impeller modifications is the influence of the number of blades. The 6 blade impeller was recast by varying the number of blades: 4, 5, 7, 8 and tested with various speeds: 1050, 1200 and 1350 rpm. From the experimental results it is known that the 8 blade impeller has a higher head and hydraulic power compared to the other blades but has decreased efficiency. The results showed that the number of blades has an effect on the performance of centrifugal pumps.
