Abstract

This study aims to find out what is the motivationof parents to entrust their children to the Menara Fitrah child care program, Indralaya Utara sub-district, Ogan Ilir district.Thisresearch uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out using interviews, observation, and documentation. The subjects of this study were 3 parents of children and 1 teacher of the Menara Fitrah child care program. The research result obtained are : 1. The intrinsic motivation of parents to entrust their children is due to the need for less optimal child care by parents at home, the responsibility of parents to provide good care of children, parents desire for children to sociaize, Pressure fromparents work and pressure from their own family, andparentssatisfaction when they feel that their child is comfortable and happy in a new environment. 2.Extrinsic motivation, namely encouragement from outsidesuch as the environment arround the child. Teachers and caregiverswho are professional in looking after and caring for children, complete facilities, but the programs run by teachers are incomplete because they only have daily programs that can change according to needs without any ongoing programs with the aim of developing early childhood skills and intelligence. From the results of interviews, observations, dan documentation, it was found that the motivation of parents to entrust their children to the Menara Fitrah child care program was due to encouragement from parents who felt they had not been optimal in meeting their needs and responsinilities for good care for their children. Besides that, external factors also play a big role in encouraging parents to carry out this day care activity.
