Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a condition when there is an increase in blood pressure, with a systolic of more than 140 mmHg and a diastolic of more than 90 mmHg. Untreated hypertension can lead to complications and death, so appropriate management, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, is needed to reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be applied is Al-Quran murottal therapy. Aim: To apply Al-Quran murottal therapy in caring for families with hypertension. Method: The method used is qualitative research with a case study approach of 3 family members with hypertension. Results: There were five nursing problems that were enforced in three managed families, with the main problems being acute pain, knowledge deficiency, and ineffective health management. The interventions provided are in the form of providing education about hypertension and murottal Al-Quran therapy for 15 minutes and can reduce blood pressure in the three managed family members and families are able to recognize the problem of hypertension and care for family members with hypertension. Discussion: Giving murottal Al-Quran therapy can lower blood pressure due to a calming effect, this responds to the hypothalamus to release endorphins which make a person feel happy, so that it can lower blood pressure. resulting in muscle relaxation as well as a change of attention from pain. Conclusion: The implementation of murottal Al-Quran therapy for 15 minutes has proven to be effective in reducing blood pressure.
