Abstract

Sexual education is still often considered taboo in Indonesian society. In terms of reproductive health, the behavior of wanting to try in the sexual field is very vulnerable because it can result in negative impacts that are detrimental to the future, especially for young women. Adolescents who do not have good enough knowledge, especially in terms of reproduction and sexuality, will be at increased risk of deviant acts. Knowledge in adolescents can be increased through the provision of education. One of the educational media that can be used is e-books. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of education using e-book media on reproductive and sexual knowledge in adolescents. This study used a pre-experimental research design with the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design approach. The population in this study is adolescents aged 15-17 years throughout Indonesia whose number is unknown and can be said to be in an infinite category. The total sample is 107 respondents. Sampling using non-probability sampling with accidental sampling technique. Data was collected using a validated questionnaire. The results of the knowledge analysis using the Wilcoxon test obtained a p-value of 0.000, meaning that there was a significant influence on pretest and posttest knowledge given education using e-books. Health education using e-book media is effective in increasing adolescent knowledge because this media has interesting features and is easy to access anytime and anywhere so it makes teenagers more interested and makes learning activities easier. The results of this study are expected to provide information and increase knowledge about reproduction and sexuality in adolescents aged 15-17 years and as an alternative media intervention in health education.
