Abstract

This study is entitled "Editor's Policy in the TVRI News Program "South Sumatra Today". This study aims to find out how the hierarchy of media influence on the news program "South Sumatra Today" on TVRI and what factors influence the content of the program "South Sumatra Today". To discuss this research, the theory used is the hierarchy theory of media influence by Pamela J. Shoemaker and Stephen D. Reese. This theory examines media content and the hierarchical influence of media content, including individual level, media routines level, organization level, extra media level, ideological level. The findings in this study are the hierarchy of media influence contained in the TVRI News Program "Sumatra Selatan Hari Ini", namely the level of media organization has a major influence on program content. The research method used is descriptive qualitative analysis method, which is a form of research that includes the process of collecting data and compiling data. The process of collecting data is done by in-depth interviews, observation and literature and documentation. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa selain dari level organisasi media, level lainnya juga memberikan pengaruh terhadap program berita TVRI "Sumatera Selatan Hari Ini" yaitu level individu media, rutinitas media, level ekstra media, dan level ideologi media Keywords: Editorial Policy, Full Hierarchy of Media, News Program, Level, TVRI
