Abstract

Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) is a technology that converts solar energy into electrical energy by using dye. The dye is obtained from materials containing chlorophyll, anthocyanin and carotene. the purpose of this research is to study and find out the electrical performance and durability of how long the Dye Sensitizer Solar Cell lasts. It is suspected that the addition of an egg white insulator to the Dye Sensitized Solar Cell series can slow down the evaporation of the electrolyte and make Dye Sensitized Solar Cell samples last longer with only the addition of one dose of iodine. The dye used in this study was extract of yellow swamp flowers and leaves (Ludwigia Peruviana) with 4 samples made and then divided into 2 isolated samples and 2 non-insulated samples which provided electrolyte only once at the beginning. Then there were 2 additional samples, one leaf and one flower as additional data by administering iodine every day, but this study focused on the 4 initial samples so that the comparisons were obtained. This research was carried out at the Chemistry and Agricultural Products Laboratory and the Biosystems Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The time of the research was carried out from January 2023 to June 2023. This data processing used a descriptive method with research stages including structure preparation, DSSC assembly and assembly, DSSC testing. The parameters observed in this study are absorbance, current and voltage, power calculation, FF value calculation, and DSSC efficiency. Comparisons were obtained between isolation and non-isolation samples, with isolation samples lasting up to 7 days with the high efficiency at 0,00064 % on isolation flower sample while non-isolation samples only 3 days with the high efficiency at 0,00062% on non-isolaton leaf sample.
