Abstract

This study aims to produce teaching materials in the form of a human science science material story book with the subject of research of children aged 5-6 years. Development carried out using the Rowntree model includes the stages: planning, development and assessment. The evaluation is done by using Tessmer formative evaluation method which includes self evaluation, expert review, one-to-one evaluation and small group evaluation, because it only tests the validity and practicality of the product. Data collection techniques using walkthrough and observation. The results of expert review in terms of material and in terms of media obtained average value of 3.65 categories is very valid. Category is very valid here means that the product developed in terms of the material is in accordance with the contents of the book consisting of pictures, story characters and story titles, then the description of the material easy to understand children aged 5-6 years, learning materials of human body materials are taught according to not too much and language compatibility so easily understood by the child. In terms of media is in accordance with the design of the book display has an attractive color and cover images, the use of good letters for children, layout images and writing that is easy to read child and the use of illustration images that do not contain sara. The one-to-one evaluation stage and small group evaluation obtained an average observation result of 88% of very practical category. Practical means that the child can easily understand the material delivered, so that children can do the given activities of mentioning the names of friends and special features, showing activities that are explorative and retell what is heard. The downside of this product is the complicated storytelling.
