Abstract

Caring is a moral action on the basis of humanity, as a reflection of attention, feelings of empathy, and compassion for others, carried out by providing concrete actions, care with the aim of improving the quality and condition of that person's life. However, in several hospitals in Jakarta, 14% of patients were dissatisfied with the health services provided by nurses who lacked caring. The better the nurse's caring, the more patient satisfaction with nursing services will increase. This study is quantitative in nature which aims to determine nurses' perceptions of caring. The research method used was descriptive survey. The results of the study were most of the nurse respondents worked at the age of 36 - 45 years as many as 52 nurses (50.4%), female gender as many as 94 nurses (91.3%), the last education Diploma (D3) as many as 61 people (59.2%), working in the hospital for ≥ 5 years was 82 people (79.6%) and the perception of Caring Nurses in Palembang City who had was bad as many as 52 people (53,56 %). The results of this study are expected to be an input or source of information and a basis of knowledge for students.
