Abstract

Introduction. Anesthesia means "loss of sensation" which is pain relief during a surgical procedure. Pediatric anesthesia is basically different from adult needs due to differences in anatomy, physiology, pharmacological and emotional responses. Satisfaction seen as the result of experience from the care received. Assessment of parental satisfaction with pediatric anesthesia care is important to improve the quality of service and can be an effective indicator to measure the efficacy of hospital services. Assessment of parental satisfaction uses the Pediatric Anesthesia Parent Satisfaction (PAPS) questionnaire because this questionnaire is simple and easy to do and has been proven its validity and reliability. Method. This study used a descriptive observational research method with cross-sectional study design. The data acquired are primary data from parents of pediatric patients who had surgical procedures under general anesthesia at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in September 2023 who meets the inclusion criteria. The sampling technique is total sampling. Results. There were 103 subjects in this study, but only 68 people met the inclusion criteria due to limited access to the patient's room. The data collected included the child's age, child's gender, type of surgery, ASA status, surgery history, patient's room, class of patient's care, type of coverage, parent's age, parent's gender, parent's education level, parent's occupation, and parent's satisfaction level. Discussion. Parent satisfaction level with pediatric anesthesia care at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang at very satisfied level (90.7%).
