Abstract

Background: Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease in women due to the presence of ectopic endometrial tissue. Endometriosis has a negative impact on a woman's quality of life, so prompt intervention based on indications is necessary to preserve the patient's quality of life and well-being. Method: Observational descriptive research using a case series approach with the aim of knowing the profile of endometriosis patients and their management at the Gynecology Polyclinic in Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang General Hospital from January 2020 to October 2023. Results: The characteristics of this research sample were endometriosis patients aged 35-44 years (43%), regular menstrual cycle (79.1%), menstrual volume 5-80 ml (52.3%), normal menstrual duration (69.8% ), menarche at the age of 13 years (36%), nulliparous parity (52.3%), no first degree relatives of endometriosis (79.1%), no history of autoimmune disease (95.3%), normal BMI (50%), clinical sign dysmenorrhoea (88,4%), stage IV (57%), ovarian implant location (76.7%), cyst size >3cm (73.3%), CA-125 before abnormal (70.9%), CA -125 after evaluation abnormal (15.1%), AMH before normo-responder (32.6%), AMH after evaluation normo-responder (8.1%), VAS before severe pain (54.7%), VAS after evaluation of mild pain (58.1%), combination management (96.5%), management of endometriosis accompanied by pain with GnRH agonists (82.5%) and laparotomy cystectomy (36.5%), treatment of endometriosis accompanied by infertility with GnRH agonists (87%) and laparotomy cystectomy (43.5%). Patients with complaints of infertility are planned to follow a pregnancy program (intrauterine insemination or FIV) according to the severity of endometriosis and AMH levels. More patients were without disease recurrence (80.2%). Conclusion: The characteristics of endometriosis patients in this study were those of reproductive age, not as stated by the theory that endometriosis is related to menstrual patterns, menarche, family history and history of autoimmune diseases, as well as BMI. CA-125 and AMH levels tend to decrease after operative treatment. Keywords: Endometriosis, Management, GnRH agonist, Cystectomy
