Abstract

This research aims to determine differences in perceptions between levels of students regarding the world of work in the field of education and students' interest in becoming teaching personnel. This type of research is quantitative. The research population is students of FKIP Mechanical Engineering Education Class 2020-2023. The sampling technique in this study used proportionate stratified random sampling with a total of 168 samples. Data analysis techniques in this study used descriptive analysis, Kruskal-Wallis, Mann-Whitney nonparametric analysis and Spearman rank correlation analysis. Based on the research results, differences were obtained across the entire class with a sig value of 0.010 in students' perceptions of the world of work and a sig value <0.001 in students' interest in becoming teaching personnel. So it can be concluded that there are differences in average perceptions and interests between student levels. For the results of the research on the differences between the 2 classes, it can be concluded that the class of 2020 has significant differences in perceptions and interests compared to the Classes of 2021, 2022, and 2023. The results of the correlation research between students' perceptions of the world of work and interest in becoming teaching personnel, obtained coefficient values The correlation is 0.822, which means there is a very strong relationship.
