Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy on increasing independent character in the PPKn learning process in grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 12 Prabumulih. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population in this study was the entire class VIII with a total of 145 students, the research sample used the entire population, namely classes VIII 1, VIII 2, VIII 3, VIII 4 and VIII 5 with a total of 145 students taken using saturated sample techniques. Data collection techniques in this study used Likert scale questionnaires and documentation. Based on the results of this study that self-efficacy has a significant influence on improving students' independent character, this is evidenced based on the results of hypothesis testing using a simple linear regression test with the help of SPSS version 29 obtained a significant value of 0.00 with a value (α) of 0.05. Thus the result obtained is sig.0.00< 0.05 then the decision taken is H0 rejected and Ha accepted. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of self-efficacy on improving independent character in the PPKn learning process in grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 12 Prabumulih.
