Abstract

Broiler chickens are a type of chicken resulting from cross-breeding, selection and genetic engineering of chickens that have high productivity, so it only takes 21-40 days to be ready for consumption. Broiler chicken meat is a type of chicken meat that is widely consumed by the public, both in the form of meat and processed products. The high consumer consumption of broiler chicken meat has triggered an increase in consumer demand for broiler meat on the market, this is of course influenced by several factors. The aims of this research are: 1) describes consumer consumption patterns for broiler chicken meat at the Sentosa Perdana Market, Sagulung District, Batam City, Riau Islands, 2) to analyze the factors that influence the level of demand for broiler chicken meat at Sentosa Perdana Market, Sagulung District, Batam City, Riau Islands, 3) to analyze consumer consumption behavior regarding the decision to purchase broiler meat at Sentosa Perdana Market, Subdistrict Sagulung, Batam City, Riau Islands. The method used in this research is a survey method or direct interview with a questionnaire using accidental sampling technique. The data processing method used is multiple linear regression analysis and descriptive tabulation analysis. The results obtained are: 1) consumer consumption patterns for broiler meat are dominated by fresh chicken meat with an average monthly purchase frequency reaching 6.9kg/month with an average price of fresh chicken meat of IDR 38,200/kg, and the number of respondents is 93 percent or 65 respondents and consumers stock chicken meat with a frequency of 1 kg with a weekly purchase period. 2) factors that have a significant influence on the demand for broiler meat are the income variable (millions/month) (X2) and the variable number of family members (persons) (X4). 3) consumer consumption behavior that significantly influences the decision to purchase broiler meat is the social factor variable (score) (X2) and the psychological factor variable (score) (X4).
