Abstract

The production of duck eggs in the poultry farming sector is a significant industry, playing a vital role as a culinary raw material in the market. Palembang City, renowned for its diverse culinary offerings, heavily depends on duck eggs as a primary ingredient, thereby establishing them as a prevalent commodity in the local markets. This research aims to analyze the marketing channels, calculate the marketing margins, and assess the efficiency of the duck egg marketing channels in Palembang City compared to Brebes Regency. The study was conducted at the Palembang City Market and the Duck Egg Production Center in Brebes Regency from September to October 2023. The research method employed a survey approach with interview techniques, and sample collection utilized the Purposive Sampling and Snowball Sampling method. The research findings indicate that duck egg marketing channels in Palembang City are identified in three categories: Channel I (direct from farmers to consumers), Channel II (farmers through wholesale traders to consumers), and Channel III (involving farmers, wholesale traders, retailers, and consumers). The marketing margins for duck eggs are as follows: Channel I (Rp900), Channel II (Rp700), and Channel III (Rp640). Channel I proves to be the most profitable, while Channel III is less efficient with a lower margin. The overall marketing efficiency is 6.57%, falling into the efficient category. The efficiency of Channels I, II, and III is 0%, 7.14%, and 9.86%, respectively, making Channel I the most efficient category.
