Abstract
This study aims to determine the performance of the 2 in 1 type YCC985S chopper and flour machine for making rice flour using variations in sieve size. The research was conducted from November 13 to December 19, 2023 and was carried out in two places, namely, in the Sub-Laboratory of Agricultural Energy and SubLaboratory of Machinery, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The research method used is descriptive method presented in the form of figures and tables. This study consisted of three treatments, namely the treatment of 1 kg of rice, 2 kg of rice and 3 kg of rice, each treatment was repeated three times on the variation of 2.5 mm and 3.5 mm sieves. The data taken in this study consisted of five parameters, namely, the weight put in and the results of pressing (Kg), electric current (A), electric voltage (V), electric power (W), pressing time (minutes). The parameters observed in this study consisted of four parameters, namely, energy requirements (Wh), percentage of remaining material (%), work capacity (kg/hour), and engine rotation speed (RPM). The results of the research obtained data on the results of pressing on 2.5 mm and 3.5 mm sieves, which amounted to 1.96 kg and 1.93 kg, respectively. This is influenced by the amount of material and sieve used. The number of materials and sieves used also affects the electric current, electric voltage, electric power, pressing time, and energy requirements. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the electric current on the 2.5 mm sieve has an average of 5.65 A and the 3.5 mm sieve has an average of 5.71 A, while the average voltage, power, and energy requirements on the 2.5 mm sieve are smaller than the 3.5 mm sieve, this causes the flouring time using a 2.5 mm sieve longer than using 3.5 mm. The average percentage of material remaining in the tool is highest in the 3.5 mm sieve at a weight of 1 kg at 6.33% and the average material remaining in the tool is lowest in the 2.5 mm sieve at a weight of 2 kg at 1.50%. The highest working capacity is on a 3.5 mm sieve at a weight of 3 kg at 85.03 kg/hour and the lowest working capacity is on a 2.5 mm sieve at a weight of 1 kg at 44.44 kg/hour. The average difference in engine rotation speed in all conditions is highest in the 2.5 mm sieve at 13.67 RPM while in the 3.5 mm sieve at 9.11 RPM
