Abstract

Empowerment of retired indonesian migrant workers (PMI) at the indonesian migrant worker protection agency (bp2mi) south sumatra, this research aims to find out how to empower retired PMIs at the BP2MI Institution (Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency) South Sumatra. In this research, Jim Ife uses the concept of empowerment which has 4 dimensions, namely; Resources, opportunities, knowledge and skills to explain how the empowerment of retired PMIs is carried out by BP2MI to empower retired PMIs after they return from abroad and can be independent in their own country without having to return to become PMIs again. This type of research is qualitative in the form of processing a collection of data contained in the analysis unit and then explaining it into descriptive sentences. The data sources in this research include primary data which comes from the results of personal interviews and secondary data which comes from a collection of journals, books, etc. BP2MI Sumsel work reports, the official BP2MI website, and social media news channels such as the official BP3MI Sumsel Instagram, data collection techniques used were through informant interviews and literature studies. The results of this research are the empowerment program run by UPT BP2MI South Sumatra for retired PMI and their families involving aspects of theory, practice, motivation and educational knowledge related to entrepreneurship training. Collaboration with various related parties and local partners and industry are also involved in this empowerment activity, aimed at creating activities that are expected to be realized in the community empowerment process and are focused on helping retired PMIs to independently control their lives and demand intervention in processes and structures that facilitate access. as well as control over resources and developing ways of thinking after PMI for the sustainability of a more decent life
