Abstract

Oil palm plantations are one of the pillars of the Indonesian economy and the extraordinary potential of oil palm plantations helps many Indonesian people absorb labor. The porposes of this search were (1) Analyze the role of cooperatives in creating jobs for new peace-loving village communities and their surroundings, (2) Analyze the job opportunities available at KPKS Suka Makmur in oil palm plantation management activities, (3) Analyze how much the average wage that workers get in managing oil palm plantations at KPKS Suka Makmur. This research was carried out in Suka Damai Baru Village, Sungai Lilin District, Musi Banyuasin Regency in March 2022. The method used is the method used in this research is the case study method with the case unit being the KPKS Suka Makmur. The results of this research are (1) The absorption of workers at KPKS Suka Makmur reaches 30% of the community whose livelihood is as farmers. Job opportunities for the people of Sukadamai Baru village to work in 10 jobs including garden maintenance, fertilization and harvesting(2) The daily value of working people who work 6 days a week is needed 726 hok/year working on Suka Makmur KPKS land, and 871 hok/year if they work for 5 working days, at the age of 5 years of planting the plants produce, the value will increase high as the age of oil palm planting increases and requires more and more workers, (3) KPKS Suka Makmur has provided additional income for the people of Sukadam Baru village who work in oil palm plantations with an average wage of IDR 900,000 to IDR 5,000,000 in one month, where one day can earn ≥ IDR 75,000 and reach ≥ IDR 10 ,800,000 in one year.
