Abstract
Currently, the population growth is getting better and better, so that energy use is also increasing, which is causing energy resources and fossil fuels to become increasingly thin and depleted. For this reason, it is necessary to obtain other alternative energy sources that are abundant and can be improved, namely alternative energy players in the form of biomass energy. This is a potential technology for waste management players such as biomassage technology. The aim of this research is to obtain the operating characteristics of a conventional gasifier system, obtain flame duration, and calculate the Air Fuel Ratio (AFR). The type of gasifier used is the Updraft Gasifier type with a suction system on the gas output. This research used experimental methods, by making direct observations by carrying out tests three times using 2.5 kg of rice husk biomass as fuel and 0.5 kg for making coal with an air rate supplied to the reactor of (2 .1-2.2) m/s. From the three experiments, it was found that the average time for making embers was 6.26 minutes, the average time for getting fire was 30 minutes, raitai - raitai operation time was 3,961 s (66 minutes 1 second) with an aipi value of 1,886 s (31 minutes 43 seconds) with an average AFR of 5.55. From the three tests as a whole, the resulting visualization of the flame was bluish yellow on average. Keywords: gasification, updraft gasifier, rice husk, combustible gas
