Abstract

Background: Dental health issues are a very important concern in health development. In 2020 public health was worried by the emergence of Covid-19. The Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has impacted various sectors, especially health facilities. This burden affects health services, especially the increasing need for health equipment and materials such as Personal Protective Equipment, disinfectants, and additional medical and non-medical equipment to support standard Covid-19 precautions. This study aims to find out an overview of the rates for dental services before and after the Covid-19 pandemic at independent dental practices in the city of Palembang. Method: This research uses descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The analysis used is a univariate test which is carried out on each variable and research results and analyzed to determine the distribution and percentage of each variable. Results: The results of the research showed that there was a change or increase in examinations and consultations, examinations and medication by 100%. Meanwhile, the actions that experienced a not too high were tooth fillings with glass ionomer cement, fillings with composite resin, prevention of cavities/fissure sealants, extraction of milk/child teeth, extraction of permanent/adult teeth at 66.7% and installing dental braces (fixed orthodontics) by 60%. Meanwhile, the actions that remain constant or do not increase are tartar cleaning (scaling) and control of braces (fixed orthodontics). Conclusion: The results that have been obtained as a whole can be concluded that the description an overview of the rates for dental services before and after the Covid-19 pandemic in the independent practice of dentists in Palembang City, there are changes in rate increases.
