Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common chronic diseases worldwide, with a high burden of symptoms and long-term complications. Patients with type II diabetes mellitus with poor glycemic control are at high risk of experiencing complications of kidney damage, eye problems due to damage to blood vessels in the retina, cardiovascular disease, skin and foot problems in the form of wounds that do not heal, and nerve damage. The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between individual and regional characteristics and the utilization of services at FKTP among PBPU participants diagnosed with type II diabetes mellitus. This research method uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional research design using BPJS sample data for 2019–2020. The research sample consisted of 42,583 patients with PBPU membership who were diagnosed with type II diabetes mellitus. The data were analyzed using Quantum GIS and the Chi Square statistical test. The results of this study show that diabetes mellitus sufferers in the Java-Bali region are more likely to utilize type II diabetes mellitus services compared to the Papua region. There is a relationship between marital status, region (p-value<0.05), and utilization of services at FKTP among PBPU participants diagnosed with type II diabetes mellitus. Conclusion The use of services at FKTP for PBPU participants diagnosed with type II diabetes mellitus is influenced by the participant's marital status and region. It is hoped that BPJS Health will make direct monitoring efforts on the implementation of the prolanis program at FKTP, in order to increase the utilization of services for type II diabetes mellitus patients whose accessibility is difficult to reach.
