Abstract

ABSTRAK Perkembangan teknologi komunikasi telah menjadikan media sosial, termasuk Instagram, sebagai alat penting bagi masyarakat Indonesia untuk berbagi informasi dan berinteraksi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pemanfaatan Instagram sebagai sarana informasi kegiatan anggota DPD RI Dapil Sumsel. Teori penelitian ini merujuk pada Government Social Media Communication (Teori Komunikasi Media Sosial Pemerintah) oleh Nic DePaula et al, yang mengidentifikasi tiga model komunikasi yang berkembang seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi media sosial pemerintah. Metode yang digunakan adalah Analisis Isi Kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif, menggunakan sampel sebanyak 52 unggahan @dpdrisumsel pada bulan Januari 2023 yang dipilih dengan Teknik random sampling. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa dimensi dengan presentase paling tinggi terdapat pada dimensi memberi informasi (providing information). Analisis isi menunjukkan bahwa @dpdrisumsel lebih berfokus pada dimensi memberi informasi dalam penggunaan Instagram sebagai alat komunikasi pemerintah. Ini menandakan bahwa akun tersebut cenderung menyebarkan pesan tanpa menekankan dialog atau keterlibatan aktif dengan masyarakat, mungkin mengurangi interaksi dua arah yang penting dalam membangun hubungan yang kuat antara pemerintah dan masyarakat. Kata Kunci: Analisis Isi Kuantitatif, Pemanfaatan Sosial Media, Instagram, Komunikasi Pemerintah ABSTRACT The development of communication technology has made social media, including Instagram, an important tool for Indonesian society to share information and interact. This research was conducted to understand how Instagram is utilized as a means of providing information about the activities of members of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) for South Sumatra. This research theory refers to Government Social Media Communication (Government Social Media Communication Theory) by Nic DePaula et al., which identifies three communication models that have emerged with the development of government social media technology. The method used was Quantitative Content Analysis with a descriptive approach, sampling 52 @dpdrisumsel posts in January 2023, selected using random sampling technique. The analysis results indicate that the dimension with the highest percentage is found in the dimension of providing information. Content analysis shows that @dpdrisumsel focuses more on the dimension of providing information in its use of Instagram as a government communication tool. This indicates that the account tends to disseminate messages without emphasizing dialogue or active involvement with the community, possibly reducing the important two-way interaction in building a strong relationship between the government and the public.
