Abstract

The purpose of this research were 1) to analyze the profit of UKM Karya sejati in processing water hyacinth into handbags, 2) to analyze the break even point from it, and 3) to analyze the strategies which have been done by UKM Karya Sejati in distributing its products. The method which is used was case study, while the samples were taken accidentally to thirty persons. The data was consists of primary and secondary data. Primary data was taken through observation, indepth study, and direct interview with UKM Karya Sejati line, while secondary data was taken from literature and Corporation which interrelated with this research. The result show that the profit which has been gotten by UKM Karya Sejati in every month especially in period of April 2004 until March 2005 was Rpl 0.330.634,76. The break even point analysis show that handcraftman ought to get Rp707.029,98 for his income with average price for its unit was Rp63.454,40 in order to get the number of sold out products was eleven units or 4.34 percent from total selling in every month so that this business wasn’t loss. The strategies which have been done were having diversity of handbags into 36 kinds for product strategy, having diversity of price started from Rpl8.000 to Rp98.000 for price strategy, having first level and second level of distribution line for place strategy. First level of distribution line was done through buyers who directly came to handcraftman s house, and buyers who buy at the time when exhibition happens. Second level of distribution line was done through Yasmin handcraft outlet in Palembang Trade Center mall, Swama Dwipa hotel Palembang, CV. Bambu Klasik in Lamongan, Promotion strategies have been done through wntten-media and electronic-media, giving discount and following exhibitions. According to the accidental analysis to the buyers, the strategies which have been done by UKM Karya Sejati were classified into “medium class” with value was 9.
