Abstract

The university laboratory is a place for students to do practices, so it must have a good and directed management system so that it can perform its functions and tasks with maximum efficiency. Laboratory has a high risk potential and activities in the laboratory will not be exempt from a wide range of potential risks of work accidents that can occur caused by a variety of factors. This research was carried out because in the laboratory of the Civil Engineering Studies Program of the University of Sriwijaya itself there was no study discussing identification risk so this research was conducted to identify potential risks, provide risk assessment and give risk control recommendations with the final output of Job Safety Analysis what is expected to be useful to avoid potential risk of work accidents. The research method in this study is observation with a qualitative approach by performing observations in the laboratory and interviews directed to the Head of Laboratory, Laboratory Technician and Laboratory Assistant. From this study identified 6 potential risks in Hydraulic Laboratories with high, medium and low risk levels with the control recommendations given is elimination, engineering controls, administrative control and use of Personal Protective Equeipment (PPE). Whereas in the Laboratory of Ground Mechanics identified 23 potential risks with the risk level High, Medium and Low with the recommendations of control given is replacement, engineering controls, administration control and the use of PPE.
