Abstract

Socialization or the process of instilling social values in teenagers is a very important topic in the study of sociology. At an empirical level, in Sukamoro village, Talang Kelapa District, Banyuasin Regency, this socialization study is very relevant because there is a trend of increasing juvenile delinquency. This research aims to describe the prominent aspects that families play in the process of instilling social values. By using Friedman's (2014) concept regarding the role of the family in the socialization process, this research is qualitative in nature with data collection techniques in the form of observation, in-depth interviews with informants, documentation and literature study. The results of this research show that the role played by the family as the main socialization agent in Sukamoro village, Talang Kelapa subdistrict, Banyuasin district is by carrying out the socialization role and the control role. Then the inhibiting factors for families in applying social values to teenagers in Sukamoro village, Talang Kelapa subdistrict, Banyuasin district are individual factors and environmental factors.
