Abstract

Fenomena antusiasme para penggemar dari berbagai belahan dunia tidak hanya mencip takan komunitas yang kuat di tingkat global, tetapi juga mempengaruhi secara signifikan berbagai aspek dalam kehidupan sosial, ekonomi, dan budaya. Salah satu kota yang memiliki antusiasme sepak bola yang tinggi didunia adalah Kota Manchester di Inggris. Bagaimana tidak, kota tersebut memiliki dua club sepak bola raksasa yaitu Manchester United dan Manchester City yang menjadi daya tarik para pengujung asing untuk datang kekota tersebut. skripsi ini dibuat untuk meneliti tentang bagaimana dengan adanya euphoria rivalitas antara kedua klub tersebut menjadi pendorong ekonomi serta pembentuk identitas dari kota Mancester itu snediri. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep Competitive Adventages oleh Michael Porter dengan jenis penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu deskriptif dengan data kualitatif. Hasil yang didapatkan bahwa besarnya pengaruh dari Mancehster United dan Manchester City ini tidak hanya dapat menjadi pendorong bagi perekonomian kota Mancehster. Akan tetapi, juga secara tidak langsung membentuk bagaimana kota tersebut dapat dipandang dimata dunia. Kompetisi dalam peraihan dari kedua klub yang terus menerus membawa nama Manchester ke kompetisi eropa yang langsung disaksikan oleh para penggemar sepak bola diseluruh dunia, membuat investor- investor asing pun ikut berbondong-bondong untuk datang ke kota Manchester. Ditambah lagi dengan bantuan pemerintah terhadapi bagaimana mereka mendukung akan adanya rivalitas besar dua klub sepak bola (Manchester Derby) dikota mereka, dengan membangun museum sepak bola untuk menyimpan sejarah serta peraihan yang pernah dicapai kedua klub tersebut membuat wisatawan asing yang datang ke kota tersebut membentuk pandangan bahwa nuansa serta kultur dari kota Manchester identic dengan olahraga sepak bola.
