Abstract

Solar energy is one of the solutions to the problem of lack of electrical energy. The output power generated by solar cells can be utilized to support relevant needs in several fields, including agriculture. One example of renewable energy development in agriculture is using solar panels as a source of electricity to operate water pumps because water has a vital role in supporting plant growth. This research aims to make an automatic water pump system on hydroponic plants by utilizing solar cells as a power source to increase the utilization of renewable energy technology. The seven-day research results show that the prototype of the automatic water pump system on hydroponic plants operates according to the value the water level sensor detected. When the water level in the hydroponic duct is seen to be less than the specified limit, a notification will appear on the LCD that the pump is on. Such as data, on the 20th at 09.00 WIB and 09.01 WIB, the pump turned on automatically because the water level sensor detected the water level values were only 241 and 388. Then, at 09.02 WIB, the pump turns off automatically because the water level value has reached 460. All data regarding research parameters such as sunlight intensity, voltage, current, and water level will be recorded by the data logger regularly every minute.
