Abstract

Learning achievement is an indicator of the quality of a student. Low learning achievement is influenced by various factors, one of which is nutritional status which is a determinant in brain growth to form intelligence. Nutritional status is closely related to food intake. In addition, fluid intake also needs to be considered because it can affect hydration status which has an impact on cognitive function. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between food intake, nutritional status, hydration status with learning achievement at SMA PGRI 2 Palembang City. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross sectional design with a sample size of 100 people using proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The results showed subjects who had insufficient energy levels (79%), and macronutrients that were less than the needs including protein (44%), fat (39%), and carbohydrates (86%), fluid intake (82%), good nutritional status (54%), mild dehydration (59%), and the majority of learning achievement was very good (62%). Based on the results of bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test with a significance value of 5% (0,05), there were a relationship between energy intake, carbohydrate intake, and nutritional status with student learning achievement (p-value <0,05). While there were no relationship between protein intake, fat, fluid and hydration status with student learning achievement (p-value >0,05). It is expected that students can improve food intake by consuming a balanced diet as an effort to achieve normal nutritional status and pay attention to fluid intake so as not to experience dehydration
