Abstract

Technological developments have significantly changed the way we interact and access information. One aspect that is affected is website use. Websites have become the main means for individuals, organizations and institutions to communicate, share information and carry out various online activities. Sriwijaya University as an institution certainly has a website which is a virtual gateway for students and the general public to access various academic and administrative information. However, since the release of the newest website in 2021, there has been no research on evaluating the quality of the Sriwijaya University website. In fact, the UNSRI website itself in Indonesia occupies the 21st position in terms of university website quality and the 2038th position in the world. Seeing this problem, research is needed on evaluating the quality of qualified websites. WebQual 4.0 is the most widely used website quality measurement method. Not only that, WebQual itself has been developed 4 times and is a development of the ServQual method. WebQual consists of 3 main variables, namely usability, information quality, and service interaction quality. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the independent variable WebQual on user satisfaction related to website quality. Sampling was carried out using purposive sampling by distributing questionnaires and there were 136 respondents who were students, prospective students and postgraduates. The results of this research show that the variables usability and service interaction quality independently have a positive and significant effect on user satisfaction. However, the information quality variable does not have a positive and significant effect on user satisfaction. The value of the coefficient of determination is 73.1%, which means that the three WebQual variables can explain variations in user satisfaction. Therefore, WebQual 4.0 has been able to evaluate academic websites as well as provide information on aspects that need to be maintained and receive serious attention
