Abstract

The aim of this study is to redesign the garden around classroom to become a better in arti Stic garden. The study was conducted ffom May to June The methods used in this design are the survey, observation and questionnaires to obtain primary data and secondary data. Observation is divided into several stages of inventory, analysis, synthesis of concepts, and concept of planning and design. Primary data includes the results of questionnaires and photographs relating to the garden plan at around classroom building of Agricultural Faculty, University of Sriwijaya while secondary data obtained through the study of literature related to landscaping. The green garden concept mostly characteristic by plants is applied to the design. As object, classroom building is divided into four separate rooms: the westem part; the eastem part; the nothem part and the south part consist of the DIAN MIRANTI. 2012. left side, center, and the right side. The concept design is forming a symmetrical pattem following structure of the building, circle pattem in the middle of the garden became the focal point of the design is expected to reduce the stiffness of the dominant straight-line construction. To improve ecology functionality, Melaleuca leucadendron Linn planted at the rear side of the building. Colorfiil flowers planted in public area provide contrast to the garden, avoid monotonous impression. The results showed that almost all respondents gave a positive response to the design. The majority of respondents were about 47,2% score B to the design, 46,3% score A and 6,3% score C. The result showed that the design have satisfied members of Agricultural Faculty, University of Sriwijaya.
