Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between the use of social media TikTok and the interest in learning of public education students at FKIP Sriwijaya University. This research uses a type of correlational research with a quantitative approach. The total research sample was 67 respondents who were active community education students in 2021-2023. The sampling technique uses Stratified Random Sampling. Data collection techniques in this research used questionnaires and observation. Data were analyzed using Pearson product moment correlation. The research results have a positive level of relationship with a coefficient value of 0.532 with a significance level of p=0.000 (p˂0.05). So it was found that (1) there was a positive relationship between the indicator of the amount of time and interest in learning with a correlation coefficient of 554 indicating the relationship was in the medium category. (2) the relationship between media content indicators and interest in learning with a coefficient value of 166 and a significance level of 179 ˃ 0.05 so that there is no relationship between media content and interest in learning. (3) the relationship between media and individuals' interest in learning shows a correlation coefficient of 496 and a significance level of p=0.000 (p˂0.05), indicating a positive relationship and the closeness of the relationship is in the medium category. The higher the use of TikTok social media, the higher the interest in learning for public education students. On the other hand, the lower the use of TikTok social media, the lower the interest in learning for public education students. then the research hypothesis Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.
