Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know and be able to describe the implementation of the School Literacy Movement at SMA Negeri 17 Palembang based on theories from Munir dan Wahyu Ilaihi, including: 1) Coordination, 2) Motivation, 3) Communication, and 4) Giving Orders. This research uses a qualitative approach through the collection of interview data, documentation and observation in the field. The results showed that the implementation of GLS at SMA Negeri 17 Kota Palembang had carried out several programs in accordance with government instructions, such as zero hours, namely reading the Qur'an for 15 minutes. There are programs that have not been carried out such as literacy festivals, literacy workshops, awards, literacy activities outside of school. This program that has not been running needs in-depth study and needs to coordinate with the community and the education office so that this program can be implemented properly. GLS motivation is carried out by school residents starting from the principal who motivates teachers and guidance teachers for students. The principal has provided motivation in the form of completing the facilities and infrastructure needed in school literacy activities so that the program can run properly. The supervising teachers provide motivation during the implementation process. In the core activity of the literacy movement, students and teachers apply 15 minutes of reading before the learning process is carried out. For teacher communication with students, namely through chat in whatshapp group. This communication is to run the planned program and give tasks to each literacy division to run it such as on Pancasila day students make works and post on social media about pancasila. In the GLS program, many have been implemented and there are several programs in accordance with the Ministry of Education and Culture that have not been carried out in development programs such as student work exhibitions at the end of each school year by inviting parents and the community to give appreciation to students.
